Tell it to SunStar: Incompetent

THE National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) slams the Duterte administration for its gross neglect in implementing a preventive travel ban to and from China on grounds of preserving diplomatic ties with the country.

The chronic subservience of Duterte to China did not end with his sellout of our national sovereignty and patrimony.

Duterte has now traded the health and welfare of Filipinos for continued financial and political support from his master, Xi Jin Ping.

Instead of executing measures to control the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Duterte chose to coddle the disease in the interest of preserving diplomatic ties.

This secures Duterte a continued stream of funds from Chinese loans and infrastructure projects, which he uses to line his pockets and support his corrupt and bankrupt government.

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus is worsened by the rotten administration’s misplaced priorities. His fixation on the military and police has crippled our healthcare system and other basic social services.

Even as the country faces polio, dengue, measles, and now, a novel coronavirus outbreak, funding for the Department of Health was slashed by P10.6 billion in the 2020 national budget.

Duterte has left us Filipinos to fend for ourselves. His tyranny, incompetence and neglect have made it increasingly apparent that his administration will only continue to contribute to the deep suffering of the Filipino people.

The Union echoes the frustration of the people and invites everyone to register their indignation through collective action and joining protest rallies condemning the incompetencies and tyrannical rule of this administration.
