CLOSE to 1,000 residents of Barangay Lawaan 3 enjoyed free services from the Talisay City Government through its “Aksyon Agad sa Barangay” program on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.

The program’s formal launching was spearheaded by Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. and members of the City Council led by Vice Mayor Alan Bucao.

Some 922 residents availed themselves of free services such as ligation for pet dogs and cats, medical consultations and eye check-up.

Free medicines for cough, fever and colds as well as vitamins were also distributed during the activity.

The City Government also set up a booth for business licensing renewal for business operators in the barangay.

Help and advisory desks were also put up by the city legal and engineering offices to cater to employment, business and housing concerns.

Aside from this, residents of Lawaan 3 were also treated to free haircut, manicure, pedicure and body massage.

The Talisay City Police Station (TCPS) also took the opening of “Aksyon Agas sa Barangay” as an opportunity to formally launch “Oplan Kalinaw,” which aims to use a multi-agency approach in solving the illegal drug trade.

TCPS also introduced Project PACT (Police and Partners Act of Kindness for the Children in Talisay), which benefited 260 children through its feeding program and distribution of bundles of joy.

It also opened a symposium and interactive forum for 157 high school students of the barangay through “Oplan Sidlak” (Studyanteng Isog Kontra Droga Lamdag ang Kaugmaon), an anti-drug program for youngsters.

Residents of Lawaan 3 may continue to avail themselves of the City Government’s free services until Friday, Feb. 7.

The next leg of “Aksyon Agad sa Barangay” will cater to residents of Barangays Biasong (Feb. 12) and Manipis (Feb. 17).

The program will allocate at least seven days, depending on the size of the barangay, to provide free services to residents. / FMD / RTF
