DOH-NorMin: No local transmission yet of coronavirus

ALL three persons placed under investigation (PUI) in Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) amid 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD) scare are all foreign nationals, thereby indicating there’s no official record yet of the virus’ local transmission.

Dr. Ian Gonzales, Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao Infectious Diseases cluster head, said the PUIs that caught flu have traveled from China, under the diagnostic tool or checklist to evaluate if the patients fall within the list and classified as PU.

Gonzales said samples from the PUIs are currently being tested at RITM and results are expected to come out anytime this week.

City health officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, meanwhile, said the health office and the JR Borja General Hospital have activated their emergency health response teams.

Also, the barangay health emergency responders shall be activated for identifying, handling, monitoring, and reporting of possible suspected cases.

Quarantine measures at the Mindanao container ports is also strengthened, as well as coordination with concerned agencies for the regulation of prices and supplies of face masks.
