PSE, CCCI set to hold forum on stock market

THE Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) will conduct a free seminar in Cebu City to boost local participation in the stock market by providing corporations with information on financing alternatives other than debt.

The PSE said the forum, to be conducted jointly with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., is entitled “Alternative Funding-Financing Through The Equities Market.”

This will be held on Tuesday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

“This partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (CCCI) supports the advocacy of the Exchange in increasing local participation in the stock market.

The Exchange seeks to encourage members of the CCCI and other companies to expand their businesses through a listing on the Exchange,” PSE chief operating officer Val Antonio Suarez said.

Experts will join the forum to discuss the Philippine economic outlook, advantages of a public listing, factors that determine the readiness of a corporation to list on the stock exchange, and the various ways by which corporations may list their shares on the PSE.

Among these speakers are Eduardo Francisco, president of BDO Capital and Investment Corp., and Senen Matoto, president of Vicsal Investment Corp.

The members of the panel will be joined by Antonio Tiu, president and chief executive officer of AgriNurture Inc., a company that joined the bourse in May 2009. Tiu will discuss how being listed on the PSE contributed to the success of his company.
