The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved yesterday during its regular session the P1-million assistance of the province to the victims of the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has requested for the approval of the said financial assistance.
The approval was made in concurrence of Resolution No.5, series of 2020 of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Negros Occidental, resolution providing financial assistance for the province of Batangas in the amount of P1 million to be funded under the 2016 PDRRMF-Special Trust Fund.
The volcano erupted on the afternoon of January 12, 2020, 43 years after its previous eruption in 1977.
The eruption caused evacuation and affected thousands of residents of Batangas and other areas near the volcano. (TDE)
