Tausug doctor abducted in Sulu

SUSPECTED members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have abducted a Tausug doctor in the province of Sulu, Western Mindanao Command commander Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana confirmed on Wednesday, February 5.

The victim, identified as Daniel Moreno, was taken around 7 p.m. on February 4 by four suspected ASG members from his residence in Barangay Walled City, Jolo Sulu.

His residence is located just beside his clinic.

Sobejana said the Joint Task Force Sulu has launched a search and rescue operations to take back Moreno safely.

He said the abduction indicates that a member of the terrorist group is sick or wounded.

He said the ASG might demand ransom in exchange for the release of the victim. (SunStar Philippines)
