Guv musters 3,608 health workers vs 2019-nCoV



CITY OF SAN FERNANDO--Governor Dennis Pineda had called upon the help of some 3,608 barangay health workers (BHWs) in the province’s preparedness efforts against the dreaded 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

This, as the Provincial Government of Pampange met the BHWs Wednesday, February 5, at the Bren Z. Guiao Covention Center as health experts in the province highlighted the different protocols and preparedness initiatives in handling the possible 2019-nCoV cases. The event was also aimed at orienting the BHWs on the pertinent facts about the virus.

Pineda had urged the BHWs to help in the dissemination of proper information on how the virus spreads and how to prevent it.

Earlier this week, over a hundred doctors and other health care professionals have been briefed on the protocols and response procedures in handling suspected or confirmed cases of the 2019-nCoV.

The doctors and health care professionals underwent training on Monday, February 3, after Pineda asked the Provincial Health Office with the help from Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and Department of Health (DOH) to properly train the group of doctors and medical workers who will serve as frontline personnel as the need arises.

The Provincial Information Office (PIO) said medical personnel from the different district hospitals and health representatives from Angeles City and Clark Development Corporation attended the training held at the Benigno Aquino Hall here to show their support for the initiative set by the governor.

The PIO added that Dr. Jay Rivera, team leader of the group, assured the group of medical specialists that all necessary assistance will be provided by the Provincial Government.
