THE men and women behind the Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) are holding their first quarter meeting in Davao City.

Jessica Esparrago of Cagayan de Oro City, during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, said MPG advocates women empowerment in its programs.

"The MPG is not purely games but it emphasizes on values formation and bonding of participants and enhancing their leadership skills," she said.

Rey Mancia of Iligan, meanwhile, said their quarterly meeting is a coming together of MPG leaders from different regions "to renew our being kalaro, kaibigan, kasama," which has become the mantra of the games.

Al Rashid Sendad, for his part, said their meeting is an opportunity to share their experiences after the 2019 MPG was held in Zamboanga City last October, while Erwin Pelayo of Zamboanga said MPG is about winning friends.

The MPG quarterly meeting is spearheaded by chief convenor Noli Ayo of Ateneo de Davao University.
