186 arrested for various crimes

A TOTAL of 186 wanted persons, including 30 top most wanted persons (TMWP), are now in jail following separate manhunt operations conducted by operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera in January.

"The series of operations which were conducted regionwide to arrest all wanted criminals charged for various offenses is in adherence to the marching orders of the CPNP (Philippine National Police chief) to intensify, reinvigorate and focus on the anti-criminality drive and anti-insurgency efforts of the PNP," said PRO-Cordillera Director R'win Pagkalinawan.

Of the 186 wanted persons neutralized, 30 individuals were listed in the Top 10 most wanted persons. One is listed in the regional level's TMW, nine in the provincial level, and 20 in the municipal level and 156 others.

Cordillera's number 8 TMWP was identified as Jheyrald Cayas Genove, who was arrested in Lower Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet in the morning of January 24.

Genove is wanted for two counts of rape with no bail recommended.

Abra's number 6 TMWP, identified as Alfredo Tampoy Sr., was nabbed in Barangay Bao-yan, Boliney on January 26 for two counts of acts of lasciviousness with a recommended bail of P180,000.

In Apayao, the number 5 TMWP, identified as Aljhmar Bawat Dam-at, was held for the crime of rape, while number 8 TMWP Emerson Pante Calapati was caught for the crime of double frustrated homicide.

In Benguet, the listed number 8 TMWP "Judilyn" was caught in Acop, Caponga, Tublay, while Arjay Olita Daguio, 28, listed as number 10 TMWP, was arrested in his residence in Lengaoan, Buguias.

Judilyn was accused of estafa with no bail recommended, while Daguio was charged with violation of Section 10 of Republic Act 7610 with a recommended bail of P200,000.

In Ifugao, Jose Pugong, 53, number 1 TMWP, caretaker of a cell site in Ap-apid, Tinoc, was arrested on January 23, while Roy Wallat Gopeng was apprehended in Balangbang, Mayoyao, Ifugao on January 28.

Pugong was arrested for murder with no bail recommended, while Gopeng was held for the crime of frustrated murder with recommended bail of P200,000.

Two most wanted persons of Kalinga, identified as Marcial Pallat, charged with rape, was captured in Barangay Bantay, Tabuk City, while Freddie Sangab, number 8 TMWP, was arrested for attempted rape in Pinococ, Pinukpuk .

The Baguio City Police Office had the highest number of arrest at 97, followed by Benguet Police Provincial Office with 31, Abra Police Provincial Office with 19, Kalinga Police Provincial Office with 18, Ifugao Police Provincial Office with 12, Apayao Police Provincial Office with five, and Mountain Province Police Provincial Office with four.
