BARMM hires 1,153 teachers for Maguindanao

THE Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has hired 1,153 teachers for the two school districts in Maguindanao.

MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that 569 of the 1,153 newly-hired elementary and secondary school teachers were assigned in the first school district of Maguindanao.

Iqbal said the remaining 584 were assigned to the second school district.

The newly-hired teachers for first and second school districts took their oath on February 6 and 7, respectively, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Center at the BARMM government center in Cotabato City.

Iqbal said the teachers were hired after they passed a strict hiring process that includes assessment and competency examination, an interview, and a demonstration teaching.

“Our goal is to have a balanced, inclusive, relevant, and quality Bangsamoro Educational System for our children. The vision is possible if we have quality teachers,” Iqbal said.

“Teachers are perhaps the most influential role models for young people,” he noted.

He reminded the newly-hired teachers to uphold the BARMM’s advocacy of moral governance.

Meanwhile, the MBHTE-BARMM will be conducting selection and screening process for aspiring teaching applicants in the divisions of Basilan and Tawi-Tawi this month. (SunStar Zamboanga)
