TEAMS from Davao del Norte and Municipality of Sta. Maria, Davao Occidential signed up for the Road to AAU 5X5 World Championship 2020 Mindanao Cluster Qualifying set on February 22 and 23 at the Ateneo de Davao University Matina campus.
Mindanao Cluster coordinator Cholo Elegino said registration is ongoing for the qualifying event that stakes slots to the National Selection Camp in Manila. Selected players will then represent the Philippines to the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) World Championships in Orlando, Florida, USA.
"We are targeting around 150 teams. We hope more entries will register as this is a very rare opportunity for Mindanao teams to get a chance to compete abroad," Elegino said.
Entry fee is P1,900 per team inclusive of free jerseys for the four players and shirt for the coach.
Other qualifying legs are set in Naga City on February 15 and 16, Cebu City on March 7 and 8, Manila on March 14 and 15 and Angeles City on March 28 and 29.
Categories entered are 19under born 2001, 2002 and 2003 and 16under born 2004, 2005 and 2006.
