ONE of my go-to places for affordable yet delicious desserts on weeknights is Confex & Co. Bakeshop at The Site along Jacinto Extension.
The bakeshop offers several pastries that are not only delicious but also quite affordable. Another great aspect of their desserts is it is not very sweet but just right to satisfy someone with a sweet tooth like me.
Aside from the cakes and pastries on display, Confex also offers pasta, sandwiches, milkshakes, coffee, and tea.
My regular orders here would usually be the Ube Leche Flan Cake, Matcha Revel Bar, and the Chocolate Chip Cookie. Now and then, I would also order their Brownie. All four are my favorite Confex pastries.
The Ube Leche Flan Cake may look like a very sweet dessert but it is not.
The cake is quite moist and the flan was also good too. Since this is a layered cake, I would sometimes separate the top layer so I can enjoy the ube cake as it is.
The Matcha Revel Bar was a favorite discovery of mine. I tend to avoid matcha desserts because most that I have had were not good. However, this one is delicious. I like that aside from the matcha, you can also taste the white chocolate. It has a crusty layer but the texture of it is quite soft.
For a cookie lover, their Chocolate Chip Cookie hits all the spots that I love about a chocolate chip cookie -- chewy, sweet, chocolatey. It is also big compared to other cookies in the market right now. If heated, best served with a glass of milk.
Hands down, they have my favorite brownies in the market. It is generous in size and has a crusty top layer. When you take a bite of it, you would find that it is very soft, moist, and chewy on the inside.
Recently, I was also able to try their other products like the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and the White sauce pasta (Carbonara).
The Grilled Cheese Sandwich was delicious. Love the fragrant smell coming from the grilled bread and cheese. It came with fries, which were fine.
While I enjoy most of the products offered by Confex, the white sauce pasta was just ok. The sauce was good but not memorable. I find the sauce to be too thick. However, I like that they used linguine, which is one of my favorite kinds of pasta out there. Another bright spot was the garlic bread, which was good and crunchy.
Aside from the delicious pastries, I also like the ambiance of Confex. I like to relax here on some days while watching a video on Youtube or Netflix.
