Notice to proceed with sanitary landfill construction inked

CITY Mayor Evelio Leonardia has already signed the notice for A.L Construction to proceed with the P32,892,636.99 design and building of the city’s sanitary landfill at Barangay Felisa.

Acting City Administrator and chairman of Bids of Awards Committee (BAC) lawyer Goldwyn Nifras said Thursday Leonardia has signed the notice to proceed last Wednesday, noting that they are now waiting for the official receipt of the winning bidder, the A.L Salazar Construction, “and that they could start the construction of the sanitary landfill.”

Nifras stressed that upon receipt of the notice to proceed, “they are required to proceed as soon as possible.”

The construction worth P32, 892,636.99 is within the compliance of Republic Act 9003 Solid Waste Management Law.

Nifras said it’s for the development of the first phase of said project under RA 9003,” but the plan covers the whole development but only the one hectare will be immediately developed for the sanitary landfill, and the next phases will follow.”

Councilor Al Victor Espino, chair of the committee on finance, in the meantime said it will now pave way for the development of the first phase of said project under RA 9003, which the city is required to build.

Espino emphasized that the issues raised by the political opponents of the present administration claiming that the loan which the city engaged will not affect the city’s funds because it was from a back Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of the city.

The City Government shall have the authority to accelerate the conduct of work before its completion is obtained including the price proposals from the contractor in achieving necessary acceleration.
