16 NPA rebels surrender in Sultan Kudarat

SIXTEEN New People’s Army (NPA) rebels recently surrendered amid sustained military offensive against them, officials announced Sunday, February 9.

The 16 NPA surrenderers were turned over on Thursday, February 6, to the municipal government officials of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Go, Jr., Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion commander, said they surrendered to him on January 31, 2020 in the village of Baranayan, Palimbang.

Go said the surrenderers handed over the following: one M-14 rifle, one caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle, two caliber .45 pistols, one 9-mm pistol, and one caliber .38 revolver.

Go said the NPA surrenderers are currently housed at the Sultan Kudarat Province Halfway House for processing under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). (SunStar Zamboanga)
