6 fugitives arrested in separate manhunt ops

SIX fugitives were caught by the police in different towns in Cebu on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.

Among those who were arrested was the second most wanted person in the southern town of Argao.

Argao Police Station desk officer SSgt. Howard Maynopas identified the suspect as Arniel Datuin, 27, a resident of Sitio Katagbakan in Barangay Mabasa.

Datuin has a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Argao.

There were no other details provided on the crime Datuin had allegedly committed apart from that it was non-bailable and had reportedly happened on March 1, 2019.

Maynopas said Datuin did not resist arrest during the operation led by Argao Police Station Chief Major Eldifonso Miranda Jr.

Some 198 kilometers north of Argao, operatives of the Daanbantayan Police Station arrested 21-year-old Vivencio “Jun-jun” Yurag.

Yurag has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of attempted rape with P120,000 recommended bail issued on Jan. 24, 2020 by the RTC Branch 18 in the City of Bogo.

Daanbantayan Patrolman Reynand Sitoy said Yurag was arrested at 10:20 a.m. Saturday in his house in Sitio Badiang, Barangay Malbago.

Another fugitive who allegedly violated Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, was arrested in the southwestern town of Badian.

SSgt. Melvin Collados of the Badian Police Station identified the suspect as Ruben Suerte, 25, a resident of Barangay Lambug.

The court of Barili issued a warrant of arrest against Suerte for the crime of rape on Nov. 14, 2019.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Asturias Police Station arrested Jen-Jen Ampoan, 35.

She has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of grave oral defamation with P18,000 recommended bail issued by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Asturias.

A manhunt operation in Barili also led to the arrest of siblings Jackie and Albert Malinao.

The Malinaos are facing charges for direct assault upon an agent of the person in authority with a recommended bail of P36,000 each issued on Feb. 4, 2020 by the Municipal Trial Court of Barili. (BBT, RTF)
