Troops nab Abu Sayyaf financial conduit

POLICE and military troops have arrested the financial conduit of the Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf bandits in a remote village in Zamboanga City.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Abra Adian Marani also known as Abra Hamjari Marani, 45.

Duco said recovered from Marani were a caliber .45 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition, one magazine assembly, and a grenade when arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of search warrant around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Buenavista Village, this city.

He said Marani, the father-in-law of a certain Abu Talha, serves as errand and financial conduit of the Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu.

Abu Talha was arrested together with three other suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits last year in the village of Talabaan, this city, he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
