P800,000 illegal weeds seized, six arrested

NEARLY P1 million worth of marijuana were seized while six drug offenders were arrested by authorities last week in separate drug busts.

The combined operatives of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera arrested Mark Airone Arevalo Joya of Naic, Cavite in Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga February 6 for possession of illegal drugs.

Confiscated from Joya are four bricks and three packed of marijuana in tubular form with a Dangerous Drug Board value of P484,680.

In a another drug bust, Aaron Joel Sapon Estrada a.k.a Aron and Angelo Gaspar were arrested at Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet in the morning of February 7 leading to the seizure of six plastic sachets of shabu, P1,000 drug bust money, and a cellphone.

Jefferson Pacio Damilo of Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet was arrested by anti-narcotics agents and confiscated one sachet of suspected shabu, one cellular phone and P4,000.

In Kalinga, C-J Gongob Baggas, of Pinukpuk was collared where authorities recovered one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P2,500 cash and a cellphone.

Through a search warrant, police arrested Henry De Vera, of Barangay Kias, Baguio City after being caught at Barangay San Vicente on February 3 that led to the confiscation of two pieces of a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P6,000 cash, and one cellular phone.

Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Benguet Provincial Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit, and PDEA-CAR also conducted a one marijuana eradication at Sitio Almasi, Tacadang, Kibungan on February 6 destroying P399,800 worth of illegal weeds.

Police also discovered five other marijuana plantation sites having a land area of 290 square meters with 1,099 fully grown marijuana plants which were uprooted while 1,500 kilos of dried marijuana stalks were likewise found.
