THE Sherilin Red Arowanas flaunted its tremendous depth to sink oust the RECJC Pension Spartans, 91-73, in the “Sweet 16” round of the Metro Cebu Basketball League Rad Teamwear Cup at the City Sports Club-Cebu on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020.
Facing off against a team that suited up just seven players, the Red Arowanas of businessman Richard Mercado showed no mercy, especially in the second half where they ran away with the lead to capture the win.
Big man Junrie Hoybia paced Sherilin with a near double-double of 14 points and nine rebounds to go with three steals.
Also booking a place in the next round was Air22 which downed Brosco, 102-93, thanks to the offensive explosion of Jimwell Nacila who had a whopping 53 points in the win.
RMA also moved on to the quarterfinals with a 104-85 win over the Barracudas. Jeric Gonzaga tallied 26 points, two boards and three steals to help RMA pick up the win.
Also advancing was Lite Shipping Corporation which eliminated the TSO & Co., 109-70. Ariel Calomarde presided over the win with his 24 markers.
The Hoopsters also booked a ticket to the quarters with a 93-79 win over the ST Klub. Wilmer Paloma had 39 points, five rebounds and two steals to power the Hoopsters to the next round. (JNP)
