Mayor sends medical team to residents near quarantine site

CLARK FREEPORT -- Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan has sent medical teams to monitor the health of his constituents living near the New Clark City, which has been used as quarantine area for Filipinos repatriated from Hubei, China.

Edgar Guevarra, a close aide of Catacutan, said the move was initiated by the mayor in order to allay the fear of CapaseƱos living within the immediate vicinity of New Clark City.

He said Catacutan deployed the medical teams in the area to conduct random checkups to the residents.

They are composed of personnel from the Provincial Health Office and Municipal Health Office of Tarlac and Capas, respectively.

"They are ably supported by the local MDRRMC emergency medical technicians. The provision of medicines was also covered by the provincial and local government unit of Capas," Guevarra said.

The medical team from the local government unit will cover the communities beside the quarantine site for the duration of 14 days, the period where the repatriates are on quarantine.

This is one of the several mitigating measures initiated by Balen Capas, Catacutan said.

The mayor earlier asked his constituents to move on and stop posting social media comments against the decision of the government designating the Athletes' Village as isolation area.
