Sanchez: Third life

Sanchez: Third life

THANK you Lord that I can sit again in front of my laptop and write. Sort of.

This is my third cerebral stroke. My last stroke was in 2015. The first in 2009. Same health issues. Brain attack.

I’m finding it hard to think again.

On January 12, my co-servants of the Prayer and Life Workshop brought me to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center (BAMC) in Taculing. I began to lose control of my nervous system.

I cannot walk, feed myself, sit, and stand. I could not bathe alone which I used to on a daily basis without even thinking of it. I had to get used to using adult diapers. The nurses and my community caregivers had to do those things for me.

But I have to thank Dr. Jed de Leon who prompted me to write a column again. SunStar Bacolod is a popular publication in BAMC. (I saw one in his clinic). Thank you doc for the encouragement, I’m sure you can read this column.

I thank my Light of Jesus community. Senior Feast Builders Alan Brillantes, Feast Builders Noel Aguilar and William Kwong, Petertyrone, Monette Abayon, and Ma Socorro Ciron who prayed for my recovery and extended financial support.

I also thank the nurses in Station 5 who were always present when I needed them. Special thanks to Michelle Nangit, nursing aide, who gave me a bed bath on her overtime.

I thank my home-based caregivers May Anne Parar and Nilda Alemania who cleaned me up daily here at home.

To Sharia Apurada, my physical therapist, who explained to me the science behind my exercises, thank you.

Much thanks to my sibs Rorie, Ony, Ramón, and my nieces Hanna for the financial assistance, as well as Maymay and Yoki who have been my trust managers.

And most of all, to our Heavenly Father, for the gift of life for the third time.
