Gacad: See you ‘pre

A VERY dear friend will soon be moving to another destination as part of his career growth. It would be a total of 218 days that we will be officially part of the same regional office until he takes that next step to lead another regional office. News like this is bittersweet, to say the least. What MGB XII will be “losing” will be a tremendous gain to his new station.

Many hearts in #oneMGB12 will be broken but I am sure it will be because of the “uncertainty” of moving forward without the guidance of one of the biggest pillars of this office. Having said that, I am almost certain that the general sentiment would be happy to see that one of our teammates will be moving up the career ladder to make a positive change in his new place of assignment, similar to the impact he had while serving faithfully for the responsible mineral development of the Soccsksargen region. More importantly, his impact on the lives of the people he worked with and touched with his “Zumba ninja moves” will be put to the test. We take this with a grain of salt and we will all endeavor to make him proud of what we will still achieve.

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. The two survivors who have been good friends, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man’s parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, “Why are you leaving your companion on the island?” “My blessings are mine alone since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered. “His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything.”

“You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him. “He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.”

“Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?”

“He prayed that all your prayers be answered “Our congratulations, prayers, and best wishes to our one and only “JunJun,” Engineer Hernani G. Abdon!

“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.” ~ Bradley Whitford

“Work hard for what you want because it won’t come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive.” ~ Leah LaBelle

“Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.” ~ Michael Josephson

“Good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient and the best things come to those who don’t give up.” ~ Unknown
