Guv says only 1 nCoV PUI left in Negros Occidental

GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson confirmed Tuesday, February 11, that there is only one person under investigation (PUI) for 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) left in a hospital this time.

“I hope that the situation will improve in the coming months,” Lacson said.

He said the remaining nCoV PUI has been admitted in a private hospital and that the PUI who asked to be quarantined voluntarily at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital has been released Tuesday after laboratory results showed he was negative for nCoV.

Lacson said the province made sure that they follow the guidelines of the Department of Health on nCoV.

He also revealed that the releasing of laboratory results submitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) has been delayed because of several samples submitted all over the country.

Lacson added that the province is purchasing thermal scanners and thermometer to be distributed to the seaports and the airport.

Meanwhile, about their meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, Monday in Manila, Lacson said Duterte reiterated to continue his war on drugs and urged the local government units to actively participate by doing their share in stopping the drug menace.

The president also imparted to the local chief executives that the US has been persuading him not to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement.
