4 simple ways to make someone feel loved

NO RELATIONSHIP is perfect if we adhere to society's definition of "perfection." After all, love is not a bed of roses and candies and chocolates. Romantic relationship, same with other kinds of relationships, requires time, patience, commitment, and compromise.

You may think that in keeping a relationship, it requires only huge efforts and big steps. But, sometimes, even the slightest effort and gestures can do magic for as long as it's consistent.

These are four small, simple tricks that can be very helpful in keeping your relationship strong and interesting:

Be present

Being present can be both physical and emotional. Always make an effort to make her/him feel that you are always with him/her not just on happy moments, but most importantly during challenging times. Also, when you're together, always be in the present moment. Be attentive and listen with interest whenever she's/he's talking and sharing about her/his day, frustrations, triumphs, and even about her favorite Korean drama or his favorite NBA team.

Unsolicited, random messages

Genuine text message or chat sent randomly is romantic. It makes her/him feel that you remember her/him even when you're busy. Those simple "good-mornings-sweet-dreams-love-you" kind of messages speak volume.

Compliment her, but be honest

It won't cost you money or much time if you compliment your partner on a regular basis. Tell her/him the things you appreciate about her look or dress today. Be vocal and appreciative, it makes him her feel more valued and loved. But in doing this, always be honest, do not say s/he looks good even if it's not.

Make special time together

Even if both of you are busy with work, always find time to date every once in a while. Always find balance with work and life essentials. Initiate a getaway, a dinner date, a movie date, a staycation or whatever you can ever think of, just be creative.

Last weekend, before the city will be busy this Valentine's, I planned a staycation date with my girlfriend at Park Inn by Raddison Hotel-Davao. We enjoyed a romantic in-room set-up after a week-long stress from work. We also tried their Charmed Creations, a Valentine-inspired drinks (Virgin Margarita, Lady in Red, Pink Lady, Rum & Coke, and Sweet Tea with Vodka). Before we take the comforts of the hotel's soft beds, we hit first the hotel's fitness center for our fitness goals. The hotel offers interesting promos this love season that are reasonably priced.

Yes, these are simple ways but if done consistently and sincerely, will make your significant other happy and feel more loved.
