THE local government of San Simon is officially bringing its services closer to the people, as it launched the "Serbisyung Tutu" (true service) caravan on Tuesday morning, February 11.

Mayor Abundio Punsalan Jr. led the launching of the program in Barangay Concepcion, the most remote village of San Simon town.

Government agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, Municipal Assessor's Office, Public Employment Services Office, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices, Philippine National Office and Bureau of Fire Protection, have set up their desks at the barangay covered court to provide service to the residents.

Free medical and dental check-ups from the Municipal Health Office and haircut were also offered during the whole-day activity.

Punsalan said the activity aims to let Simonians feel the true essence of governance by providing quality and accessible public service.

"We are public servants employed by the people and it is our job to serve them. Through this caravan, we can show them that we are capable of our jobs and that is to serve them," he said.

During the activity, Barangay Concepcion also received P100,000 to be used for its chosen project and a computer package to upgrade its services.

Punsalan said that all 14 barangays will receive the same grant during their turn for the Serbisyung Tutu caravan.

"We will be visiting all the barangays in the coming weeks for the Serbisyung Tutu caravan so the government can reach out and serve all Simonians," he said.

Punsalan, meanwhile, told Simonians that even without the caravan, the local government is open and ready to serve all their needs.
