A 10–MONTH–OLD toddler was listed as a person under investigation (PUI) for coronavirus disease or Covid-19.

The Department of Health–Cordillera (DOH–CAR) confirmed the toddler is the latest of the 14 PUIs in the region with five of them already discharged according to Doctor Amelita Pangilinan, OIC regional director.

“We are still zero as for confirmed Covid-19 cases and we now have actually 14 PUI’s with nine admitted and five discharged. The profile of the nine admitted are seven females and two males with age ranging from 10 months to 52 years old with a median of 30,” Pangilinan said.

The renaming of the coronavirus from the 2019-nCoV ARD to Covid-19 came from the World Health Organization best practices for naming new human infectious diseases which were developed in consultation and collaboration with the World Organization for animal health and the a food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The discharged PUIs who are now in stable condition are from Abra (3), Baguio (3), Benguet (2), and Mountain Province.

“For the three individuals coming from Abra, they all had a history of travel to China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. For the three discharged individuals, they have shown clinical improvement, they are stable, their confirmatory test showed negative result coming from the RITM. There is no indication from continuing the admission and an alternative diagnosis is available, either they have other diseases other than Covid,” Pangilinan stated.

The regional health department added of the nine individuals, two are currently admitted while the other seven are now under home confinement due to mild symptoms but with strict monitoring and supervision.
