P350,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P350,000 worth of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug busts of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City Tuesday evening, February 11.

The operations led to the arrest of John Mark Gabaleo, 32, of Purok Kapawa, Barangay Pta. Taytay; and Romeo Aldas, 49, of Barangay 26.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Gabaleo was arrested by operatives of BCPO-Drug Enforcement Unit after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at Purok Kapawa, Barangay Pta. Taytay at 6:05 p.m.

Police recovered from Gabaleo’s possession 24 sachets of shabu with estimated market value P332,000, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

Pico said Gabaleo was identified as high-value target in Bacolod and was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.

Aldas, who was identified as street-level target, was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 4 at Rizal Street, Barangay 26 at about 9:25 p.m.

Police recovered from Aldas’ possession five sachets of shabu with estimated market value P18,000, the P500 marked money, and P400 cash.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Station 4 and BCPO headquarters for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (MAP)
