Ship from China leaves for NegOr

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Negros Occidental confirmed that the M/V Sea Music, which originated from Ningde Port in China is no longer in San Carlos City.

The vessel was earlier barred from entering the city’s waters over concerns of the coronavirus disease or Covid-19, although was later allowed to anchor off the coast in order to provision on supplies.

PCG-Negros Occidental chief Lieutenant Commander Jansen Benjamin said the vessel immediately left after it finally got its needed fresh water supply.

However, instead of heading for Cebu, the vessel opted to stay in the town of Amlan in Negros Oriental for its scheduled “cold lay up,” wherein the vessel is now waiting for its next assignment.

Based on a copy of the official manifest, it was noted that one of the 15 Filipino crew members aboard is a native of Bacolod City.

The remaining foreign crew members are three Ukrainians, and three Russians.

Earlier, the M/V Sea Music was allowed to anchor off the coast of Sipaway Island in San Carlos City on “humanitarian grounds,” as the vessel was not able to stock up on food and fresh water during its stay in China.

Officials from the PCG and Bureau of Quarantine also visited the vessel during its arrival in San Carlos, and confirmed the crew are in good health and no one was experiencing any sickness while en route to the country.
