Parian police files charges vs. retired cop

THE Drug Enforcement Unit of the Parian Police Station 1 has filed an obstruction of justice case against the former policeman who tried to intervene in their anti-drug operation.

Police Maj. Armando Labora, Parian Police Station Chief, told SunStar Superbalita, they have filed the case against Armando Devilleres, a 64-year-old retired policeman from Barangay T. Padilla.

According to Labora, after they conducted a buy-bust operation against Valtjun Donaire, 25, Devillers tried to intervene and questioned the legitimacy of the operation.

“What happened is that we decided to leave the place because there were already a lot of relatives of the suspect involved. We also learned later that the suspect was the nephew of Devillers’ wife,” Labora said.

Labora said they were pushed to cuff Devilleres when, upon reaching the police station, the former policeman kept on ranting at them.

“I tried to explain the situation to him, but he wouldn’t listen. That’s why we decided to lock him up. What he did was an insult to us because he did it in our station. It’s not like he doesn’t know our job and the process,” Labora said. (BBT, ML)
