RCB says minors not allowed in hotels

WITH the approaching celebration of the Valentine's Day, the Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) reminded the public that unaccompanied minors are not allowed in any hotels, inns, motels, lodging houses, resorts, KTV bars, disco joints, and other similar establishments.

For minors accompanied by adults, Antonio Resma of RCB said the aforementioned business establishments are required to verify the identification and relationship of the adult companion to the minor.

"But if mga minors lang unaccompanied, sila lang mag uyab, definitely, bawal sya mao na ang atong campaign karon especially the fast approaching Valentine's Day," Resma said.

"We know nga dili gyud malikayan nga naay mga mag uyab ug naay mga couples, especially minors nga ga eskwela'g high school na most probably mag try nga mag engage sa services sa mga hotels, inns and motels," he added.

The RCB, Resma added, is closely monitoring the business operators. They are also planning to conduct additional information education campaign this Friday, February 14.

The RCB is also studying a proposal to include AirBnB on the list of establishments where unaccompanied minors are prohibited.

"There's a right time to do such things. Dili man ta ga-discourage sa ila to celebrate Valentine's Day. Ila man pud right kung mag in a relationship lugar sila, uyab-uyab, but of course, sexual activities or sexual behaviors should not be their concern right now, especially the minors," Resma said.
