DA assures financial aid for hog raisers amid ASF threat

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) said hog raisers whose hogs were and will be culled after being tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF) will receive financial assistance.

DA Assistant Regional Director for Operations Carlota Madriaga said hog raisers affected by ASF will receive P5,000 per head of hogs culled.

There is also a sure aid loan assistance up to P30,000 with zero percent interest, two years to pay offered to the said hog raisers.

"At least makatabang nila kun unsa man ilay himoon nga enterprise nga aside from hog raising nga aron mapadayon gihapon ang ilang panginabuhi," Madriaga said.

As of last week, Madriaga said 13,000 hogs in Davao Occidental have been culled out of the 100,000 hogs population.

Madriaga added that the governor of Davao Occidental has committed to purchase the hogs to be culled from the raisers.

"Kinahanglan gyud ang local government units ila gyud bantayan ang ilang boarders," Madriaga said.

"Giadhak gyud sila nga dunay 24/7 sa ilang quarantine checkpoints para gyud mabanatayan ang entry, ang pagpagawas ug pagpasulod sa mga baboy ug mga produkto nga gikan sa baboy," she added.
