THE Iloilo City Government has updated the tipping fee to P3 per kilo of garbage disposed at the Sanitary Landfill Facility in Calahunan, Mandurriao district.
This developed after the City Council approved the Iloilo City Environmental Code authored by Councilor Ely Estante.
The amount was agreed upon by municipalities of Pavia and Oton, which also make use of the city’s disposal site.
“If we have sufficient collection, we will improve our drainage systems and upgrade and develop our sanitary landfill facility,” said General Services Office assistant department head Engr. Neil Ravena.
“The strategies we want to implement are for waste generators and for people to be responsible for their own garbage. And also they will be able to apply the 3 R’s in waste management—Reuse, Reduce and Recycle,” he added. (PR)
