THE local police of San Simon have issued a stern warning against illegal gambling.
The town's chief of police, Major Freddie Herry, said they are implementing stricter measures to curb illegal gambling in San Simon.
He said the campaign includes all forms of illegal gambling, including those in backyard and during funeral wakes.
"All forms of illegal gambling, including tong-its, sakla and bingo, are banned and all those caught engaging in such activities will be apprehended," Herry said.
Tong-its is a three-player card game similar to mahjong and poker, while sakla is another card game that is similar to Spanish tarot.
In case of resistance, Herry said the police can confiscate bets and gambling paraphernalia, and arrest the players.
"We are letting people know that the campaign against illegal gaming in San Simon is no joke, so either follow or face the law," he said.
