Expert urges brokers to educate clients on income flow

AN INVESTMENT expert urged investment brokers to educate their clients on the income flow of the different types of investments to match their client’s desired result.

In a forum about passive income and real estate, Wednesday, February 12, First Metro Securities Brokerage Corporation (FirstMetroSec) Business Development Section head Roberto Marco Samson said among the questions that people ask him is the return of the investments especially for first time investors.

“From there, I saw that the perception of the investment for most Filipinos is passive income or consistency of the income,” he said.

“They ask how much the return is every year. And they just don’t know what kind of investment that would give to them,” he said.

Among the kinds of investments that give passive income are government bonds, stocks, or even real estates intended to be rented.

“That is something that you can emphasize further that the market wants pala that they might not know they want,” he said speaking in front of a crowd of real estate brokers.

Aside from the returns, investors have also become careful in choosing the type of investments.

At the sidelines of the forum, Samson said investors are also asking if the investment is safe or it is secure.

“They want to understand if I put my money in this investment, what I am actually investing in. Kaya a lot of people are investing in government securities. It is risk-free because it is backed by the government,” he said.

He added this is true with all kinds of investments and people are considering the credibility and trustworthiness of the entity behind the investments.

He said it is the responsibility of the brokers to explain these things to their potential investors.
