WEAR your feelings on Valentine’s Day.
That’s what Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas wants City employees to do on the special day of hearts.
In a memorandum issued on Wednesday, Feb. 12, Gullas called on City Hall workers to do away with their usual uniforms to follow a color code just for the day: Red for married people and those with a steady relationship, green for the “single and ready to mingle,” yellow for those in complicated situations; orange for the so-called “prisoner to someone’s love,” pink for people who are not yet ready to get into a relationship and just want to be left alone for some “me time,” gray for those who believe that they were “the one that got away,” and finally, black for those who are dense.
“Valentine’s Day is usually a happy day for most. It’s an opportunity to spend the day with your wife, girlfriend or your ‘forever.’ Sadly for some, not all people are in love come Feb. 14. Some are hurt, some are in complicated relationships, some just want to be alone, some let the one get away and some are just manhid (dense) to their feelings,” read part of Gullas’ post on Facebook.
“It will be a chance to express yourself and how you feel, I see it as a chance for us to have a very colorful Valentine’s Day,” Gullas added.
Aside from City Hall workers, employees of the Talisay City College (TCC) were also asked by TCC president Dr. Ritchel Bacaltos to follow the color code.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gerard Ace Pelare, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said they will increase police visibility in public areas on Valentine’s Day to ensure a peaceful celebration.
He also warned lovers against going to dark places where their security cannot be guaranteed by the police.
“When you are dating, your date must be legal to avoid trouble,” Pelare said in Cebuano.
He said Talisay City police will monitor lodging houses, inns, motels and hotels to watch out for minors who might be forcibly taken by their supposed dates and illegal drug deals among other things that go down on Valentine’s Day. (FMD)
