Probe on for Tuba cadavers

POLICE investigation continues for the perpetrators of two still unidentified cadavers found along Tuba, Benguet.

Tuba Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Major Dominador De Guzman said the investigation is ongoing for the identity of the second and fourth cadaver found in the municipality in less than two months.

De Guzman said out of the four cadavers, only two bodies were earlier identified.

In an earlier police report, at about 1 p.m. of February 12, a male cadaver was retrieved in a close to 15 meters ravine along Sitio Ana-aw, Barangay San Pascual, Tuba.

The cadaver was hand cuffed, about 1.56 meters tall and about 35-40 years of age. The victim’s face was wrapped with gray packaging tape and wearing white t-shirt, gray sweatshirt marked with Gloverland Cougars, yellow under pants, orange and blue boxer shorts and blue maong pants, has a tattoo with heart design on its upper left arm, heart and dagger design on his upper right arm.

Police said the body sustained two gunshot wounds on his right chest.

Another unidentified adult female cadaver is found on February 5, in the boundary of Camp 2, Twin Peaks and Camp 3.

The female cadaver, discovered below a bridge, was wearing gray pants, navy blue shirt around 45-50 years old with her right thumb finger found with incised wound.

De Guzman solicited for the support and participation of stakeholders including officials of the community in order to prevent same incident in the future adding he had also enjoined officials to survey areas especially those who have deep ravines.

“Nasabihan ko na iyong mga barangay officials natin na kumbaga i-survey natin iyong area nila, lalo na sa mga barangay na mayroong bangin na mataas. Sa Kennon Road, Marcos Highway even sa Asin, Tadiangan, Nangalisan and San Pascual,” De Guzman said.

“Hinihingi talaga nating ang participation of community at barangay officials, tanods, barangay peacekeeping action teams (BPATS) na tumulong sila. Peace and order is everybody’s concern consdering iyong tuba magkakahiwalay iyong barangay,” he added.

Earlier, February 11, a male cadaver found in advance stage of decomposition at upper riverbanks of Bued , Camp 3 in Tuba, Benguet. His relatives identified him as Christian Del Prado Alvar, 38, a suspected drug user allegedly involved in carnapping, murder case and kidnap for ransom.

His head was crushed with only parts of his skull and hair present.

On January 31, a body in the state of decomposition was found along the riverbanks of Bued River, Klondykes, Camp 1, Tuba, Benguet identified through her senior citizen ID as Virginia Sirote, 75, from Mangaldan Pangasinan.

In 2019, Police Regional Office–Cordillera condemned the dumping of six cadavers and two skeletal remains in a deep ravine along Marcos Highway. (With a report from Jean Nicole Cortes)
