Over 2K vacancies for seekers of employment in Mandaue

AT LEAST 2,000 vacancies for local employment are up for grabs at the Mandaue City Public Employment Services Office (Peso).

Peso Chief Musoline Sulliva said job hopefuls may visit their office located on the third floor of the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex to know more about the vacancies.

He clarified, though, that the available employment opportunities are not exclusive only to residents of Mandaue. These will be open to all interested job seekers, he said.

“They will have to visit our office for us to determine which occupation will fit them based on their qualifications,” Sulliva said in a mix of Cebuano and English.

Those who wish to undergo skills training will be referred to the Mandaue City College Technological and Entrepreneurial Skills Training Center.

Sulliva said applicants who will pass the training for high speed sewing will be introduced to the Mactan Export Processing Zone, among others.

The Peso has also tapped the 27 barangays in the city to disseminate information regarding the job vacancies offered by the City Government’s partner companies.

The villages are also asked to help Peso gather data for its employment server system, which is set to identify which members of the community are unemployed and/or underemployed.

Based on their latest data, Sulliva said at least 95 percent of residents in Mandaue between the ages of 15 years old and above are already employed.

Sulliva encouraged the remaining five percent, or at least 10,000 individuals, to grab the employment opportunities they are offering.

The Peso, in collaboration with its partner companies, is also set to open in April 2020 a 20-day special employment program for applicants between 15 to 30 years old.

The honorarium scheme for those that will be hired will be as follows: 60 percent from the local government unit and 40 percent from the Department of Labor and Employment.

Sulliva said the daily salary rate is pegged at P500.

Peso, though, will only hire 333 applicants for the program, preferably a student or out-of-school youth with an annual income of not more than P150,000. / KFD
