MAYOR Eduardo Diman Datu played cupid as he officiated the union of 55 couples in a mass wedding event hosted by the Municipal Government of Bacolor on Valentine’s Day.
Datu said the date would remind the newly wedded couples each year about the vows they have made.
“What better way to remind them of the new chapter of their lives but have their weddings solemnized on Valentine’s Day,” Datu said.
The said wedding of couples from different villages was officiated by Datu at the Bacolor Municipal Gymnasium here attended by relatives, parents and godparents of the couples.
Datu said the event was aimed at hosting a wedding for couples who are struggling financially. According to the mayor, this is one good way to help partners in legitimizing their union and help those who help partners to formalize their unions without the unnecessary expenses.
The mayor added that having partners solemnize their weddings provides added protection and recognition for the families that they are building.
