SBP holds coaches clinic March 7–8

BUDDING coaches from Cordillera region and nearby Region 1 gets a chance to hone their skills when the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas holds a clinic March 7 to 8 at the University of Baguio.

The seminar is open to all coaches, players, teachers and basketball enthusiasts who want to hone their craft and knowledge of coaching and the sport itself. Among those who have already registered are coaches from the youth-based leagues, schools, ballclubs, teachers and officials.

Registration for the two-day seminar is P700 and P500 for students which will include a certificate, an SBP Coaches Academy ID and accreditation as coaches of the academy.

The SBP said the clinic is part of their investment in the development of coaches and enable them to raise the number of players that we will help improve exponentially.

Organizers added the future of our basketball program is dependent on the development of the grassroots and great coaching allows SBP to address the issue at a very early stage.

SBP added the objective of the clinic is to bring new coaching methodology closer to home adding coaches need not go to Manila to train but rather SBP will hold different clinics nationwide.

The coaching clinic under the SBP Coaches Commission is headed by 9-time PBA champion and two-time SEA Games National Team champion coach Jong Uichico.

The curriculum includes basic fundamentals of coaching, from teaching simple to complex drills, up to the team concept perspective. Character-building and coaching philosophy are also given emphasis.
