Northern Mindanao PUIs down to 3

THE number of patients under investigation (PUI) for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Northern Mindanao has dropped to three as of February 14, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

The number of persons under monitoring (PUM), meanwhile, is 37, according to DOH Assistant Regional Director Dr. Dave Mendoza, with more than half of them under self-quarantine.

The PUMs are those who do not show signs of sickness but needed to be home quarantined for 14 days as they came from places or areas where there is an outbreak of the Covid-19.

Mendoza also clarified that the virus is not airborne and can only be transmitted by droplet infection.

Recently, there were several articles posted and shared on the internet, particularly on social media, informing the public that the coronavirus is now airborne.

However, Mendoza said the droplet is more than two nano and its trajectory is less than one meter and it will drop down.

"Dili sya airborne kay kung moingon ka ug airborne, it should be less than two nano. Gaan sya, madala sya sa hangin. Dili sya pwede ma airborne but it can be aerosolized," Mendoza said.

Mendoza also reminded the public that before sharing articles, ideas or information on Covid-19, they should consider the NCOV: Never share unverified article or information as it will cause panic among layman; Check the source of information; Only information from the Department of Health or from the WHO (World Health Organization) should be used; and Verify all those information you received from the DOH website.

"Not only the Department of Health but all other agencies, national and local agencies, nagtinabangay ta karon. We are doing our best na ang Pilipinas dili masudlan," Mendoza said.

"Wala pa tay local transmission. We should be vigilant but not complacent," he added.
