RCB sanctions non-compliant hotel in Cagayan de Oro

THE Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) has issued an Official Violation Receipt (OVR) to a hotel located in Divisoria area, Cagayan de Oro City last Friday, February 14.

Antonio Resma Jr., inspectorate team leader of the RCB, said the hotel has no business permit for 2020 and no separate logbook for minors as required by the City Ordinance.

The RCB conducted its inspection and monitoring of hotels, inns, motels, lodging houses, resorts, and other establishments last Friday, February 14.

"They have 72 hours to administratively settle the applicable fines. If not, they will subjected to judicial proceedings," Resma said.

Resma added that the penalty will range from P500 to P5,000 depending in the violation.

Last week, days before Valentine's Day, the RCB reminded the public that unaccompanied minors are not allowed in any hotels, inns, motels, lodging houses, resorts, bars, KTV bars, disco joints, and other similar establishments in the city.

Likewise, the RCB also required the aforementioned establishments to verify the identification and relationship of the adult companion of the minor. Identification and relationship should be recorded in the establishments' logbook.

Resma said that during their inspection and monitoring, the business operators in the city were very cooperative, adding that they did not observe any minors checking in hotels, inns, motels, among others.

"We again appeal to the business community to observe the regulations and remind them to secure their necessary business permits," Resma said.

"The RCB is not anti-business but pro-regulation with the ultimate aim of protecting our children and to maintain the child-friendly status of the city of Cagayan de Oro," he added.
