A MOTORCYCLE driver and his backrider died on the spot after they crashed head-on into an Isuzu dropside truck along Maramag-Maradogao road in Bukidnon on Sunday, February 16.
The victims were identified as Nelvin Batingal, a minor, and Rodolfo Descotido, 32, both residents of San Miguel, Maramag town.
Investigation revealed that the truck, fully loaded with fresh sugarcane, was traveling from Pangantucan and heading toward Maramag, while the motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction.
Upon reaching a sharply curved portion of the road, the motorcycle allegedly overshot and crashed into the truck.
The victims fell down and were overran by the truck, resulting in their instantaneous death.
Police said the truck driver surrendered to authorities and will likely face charges.
Bukidnon Police Provincial Police Director Colonel Roel Lami-ing ordered the Maramag town police to strictly implement traffic laws and conduct random checkpoints to ensure safety of road users.
