Zamboanga City remains Covid-19 free

THE City Health Office announced that the City of Zamboanga remains free from the dreaded coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“We don’t have confirmed cases in Zamboanga City,” said Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer.

Miravite said this city also does not have persons under investigation (PUI).

Per City Health Office data, 24 persons who were placed under monitoring have been cleared of Covid-19.

Miravite said all of them are residents of this city.

However, the health officer said they continue to track, trace, and monitor individuals who have entered this city with history of travel in Covid-19 affected areas, particularly those coming from China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The Covid-19 emanated from Wuhan City, Hubei province, China, and has spread to several countries, including the Philippines.

Miravite added that two individuals are currently being traced and located to be placed under monitoring (PUM).

She said persons under investigation (PUI) are those who have two or all of the following factors: history of travel in China, Hong Kong, and Macau, history of exposure with a confirmed case or visited a health facility with a confirmed case, with respiratory symptoms (cough and colds), and with fever.

She explained the PUM are people who have traveled to regions with confirmed Covid-19 cases or had exposure to those with confirmed Covid-19 but have no signs and symptoms.

Miravite added that the PUM undergo home quarantine for 14 days. (SunStar Zamboanga)
