FOOD market operator Sugbo Mercado Food Bazaar Inc. (Sugbo Mercado) is helping more entrepreneurs gain market access.

For its third food bazaar brand named Streetfood, Sugbo Mercado brought not only its loyal food tenants but has also provided spaces for ambulant vendors to sell their ready-to-eat food items usually peddled in the streets like taho, peanut, fishball, squid ball and tempura to mallgoers and workers in the Cebu Business Park (CBP).

“We have tenants who are literally from the street. They come in and out, like the taho vendor who comes in later in the day,” said Michael Karlo Lim, Sugbo Mercado’s marketing director.

The Streetfood is located at the pocket garden located between Ayala Malls Cebu Active Zone and Insular Life Building on Bohol Avenue, CBP.

The sphere-shaped space houses 17 food tenants. Four more booths are expected to open next month.

“What differentiates Streetfood from Sugbo Mercado and The Market is that we are primarily offering streetfood items,”

he said.

Lim said the company entered into an annual leasing arrangement with the Ayala Malls Cebu management. They then offered to vendors the spaces for monthly sub-leasing.

The Streetfood opens from 12 noon to 12 midnight. (KOC)
