P58,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P58,000 worth of suspected “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride were seized in separate drug busts in Bacolod City Monday, February 17.

The operations led to the arrest of Rodineck Flores, 42, of Purok Punay, Barangay 16; and Edmar Malunes, 22, of Purok Narra-Baybay, Barangay 8, both in Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Flores was arrested by operatives of Police Station 1 at Purok Punay after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover at about 11:30 p.m.

Police recovered from Flores’s possession eight sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P10,000, the P200 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

Malunes was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 at Purok Narra-Baybay at about 5 p.m.

Police recovered from Malunes’s possession five sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P48,000, the P100 marked money and drug paraphernalia.

Pico said Flores was identified as street level target, while Malunes was also included in the drug watchlist.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 1 and 2 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (MAP)
