Benthel Asia keeps perfect record in MYBL

THE Benthel Asia School of Technology remained undefeated as it edged the Southwestern University-Phinma, 74-74, in the Under-15 Division 1 class of the MVPSF Youth Basketball League-Cebu (MYBL-Cebu) backed by Smart Communications at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along General Maxilom Avenue on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.

Raymond Benitez erupted for 29 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots for a Benthel squad that now totes a perfect 4-0 win-loss record in Group A. Meanwhile, the Cebu Institute of Technology-University improved to 2-1 with a 53-36 bashing of the Graphics Point-Toledo. Karl Andre Flores finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildkittens.

Over in Group B, Don Bosco won its third game in four tries with a 41-28 victory over Punta Princesa. Christian Seno led the way for Don Bosco with 13 points.

In Group C, the CLBA kept its perfect record with a 61-38 rout of Developmental Pardo. Vince Suico was CLBA’s high-point man with 15 points. Team Millennials put down D Rabens A, 70-35, to take the second playoff spot in the group. Joshua Marson collected 19 points, three rebounds, four assists and eight steals to pave the win for the Millennials.

Then in Group D, the University of the Visayas Passerelle B nabbed its third win in a row with a 76-32 rout of GBCL. Xerxes Duran scored 13 points to pace UV.

In the Under-12 class, Don Bosco ran its record up to 4-0 with a 42-30 win over Punta Alas. Nyjah Escobido led Don Bosco with 11 points, seven boards and three steals.

The top two teams of each group will move on to the knock-out playoff round. The MYBL-Cebu, also supported by Cebu Landmasters Inc and PAGCOR, is composed of 118 teams spread over three age groups: Under 18, 15 and 12. Each age group has Divisions 1 and 2, with the former for competitive teams and the latter composed of developmental teams. (JNP)
