The ARQ Builders-KSB Glass and the Kiboy’s Computer Solutions (KCS) remained undefeated in the Mayor Edgardo C. Labella 1st Charter Cup Basketball Tournament at the Cebu City Sports Institute on Wednesday night, February 19, 2020.

ARQ dumped the LM Paragsa, 111-98, while KCS throttled Fighter 50, 83-65. The two winning sides now hold identical 2-0 win-loss records to share the lead in the standings in this six-team pocket tournament that will award an impressive P150,000 to the champion squad.

ARQ found their second wind in the fourth canto where they unleashed a massive 34-18 run that turned a close 77-80 game into a lopsided match.

Six different players scored in double-figures for the team of head coach Marvin Caro led by the 17 points apiece of John Abad and Ferdinand Lusdoc.

Jojo Tangkay added 16 points and seven assists even as left-handed big man Manny Gabas finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with four assists, three steals and two blocks. Frank Nailon also had 13 points and 10 boards.

Meanwhile, KCS assumed control of the game from the very start and never let up to snatch their second in as many games. University of the Visayas Green Lancer forward Ted Saga paced the star-studded KCS squad with 16 points and eight rebounds while Vincent Minguito chipped in 12.

The final game of the triple-header saw ASPA trip Athalia 1 on 1, 87-76. Trailing by five at the start of the fourth, ASPA went on a sizzling run in the fourth to grab the driver’s seat and eventually register the win.

Former UV guard Frangel Omolon tallied 25 points while Jestoni Baclaan flirted with a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Former Cebu Shark Alfred Codilla flirted with a triple-double as he had 12 points, six rebounds and 10 assists.

ASPA, Athalia and Fighter 50 all have similar 1-1 records.
