150,000 worth of illegal lumbers confiscated in Surigao Sur

A TOTAL of P150,000 worth of illegally cut Yakal lumbers were confiscated at Brgy Himat-e, Tago, Surigao del Sur on February 17.

Elements of the army’s 36th Infantry Battalion together with the troops from Himat-e Patrol Base conducted anti-illegal logging operation as response to the reports of the concerned locals in the area.

The operation resulted to the confiscation of one yellow Izusu Elf truck bearing a plate number GJA-976 loaded with a good lumber of Yakal 2x6x20 estimated a total of 1,500 board feet and a market value of P150,000.

The 36IB have enhanced its campaign against illegal logging in support to the government’s program to protect the environment.

Since the start of 2020, troops of the 36IB have conducted two successful anti-illegal logging operation in close coordination and cooperation with the DENR and PNP in the province of Surigao del Sur that resulted to the confiscation of 2,102.66 Board Feet illegally cut logs with an estimated market value worth P160,836.

Confiscated vehicle and lumbers were turned-over to Tago Municipal Station and CENRO--DENR for proper investigation and possible filing of appropriate criminal charges against the owner. (PR)
