P163,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P163,000 worth of suspected “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride were seized in separate drug busts of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City Wednesday, February 19.

The operations led to the arrest of Dennis Dacula, 42, of Purok Mainabyanon, Barangay Singcang-Airport; Frederic Palermo, 42, of Purok Kaingin, Barangay Singcang-Airport; Ritchie Manday, 39, of Barangay Alijis; Nevin Gabines, 32, of Barangay 27; John Michel Shiung, 29, of Barangay 27, and Felomino Cordova, 32, of Barangay 14, all in Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Dacula and Palermo were arrested by operatives of Police Station 8 led by Major Charles Gever at Purok Mainabyanon, Barangay Singcang-Airport at about 11:45 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspect’s possession eight sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P10,000, and the P200 marked money.

Dacula was identified as street-level target in Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Manday and his three companions Gabines, Shiung, and Cordova were also arrested by City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) led by BCPO director Colonel Henry Binas at East Homes 2, Starfish Street, Barangay Estefania.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 12 sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P108,000, the P500 marked money, drug paraphernalia, and Honda motorcycle.

Pico said Manday was identified as high-value target in Bacolod City and was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest along with his three companions.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of BCPO and Police Station 8 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (MAP)
