Governor’s permit holders’ forum set Feb 21

A GOVERNOR’S Permit Holders’ Forum will be conducted on Friday (February 21, 2020) at the Function Hall, Negros First Residences in Bacolod City, to be attended by more than 200 permit holders in the province.

The resource persons include Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Western Visayas director Engr. Raul Laput, Environmental Management Bureau–Western Visayas director, lawyer Ramar Neil Pascua, DENR-Penro forrester Edgardo Rostata, Negros Occidental Miners Permittees Association, Inc. (NOMPAI) president, Michael Eusebio, who will discuss about new and relevant policies on small scale mining practices and other relevant issues affecting permit holders.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will also give his message at the forum.

The said activity, spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), aims to strengthen collaborative partnerships among stakeholders by generating inputs which may be helpful in the formulation of future relevant policies and to strengthen mining regulations in the province.

The activity will also provide permit holders a venue to articulate their concerns and pursue possible solutions beneficial to everyone involved in the small scale mining industry.

PEMO head, lawyer Danilo Amisola, will also discuss the innovative changes that have been adopted and the future development strategies to improve the services related to applying for Governor’s Permit.

Negros Occidental Board Member Rommel Debulgado, chair of the SP Committee on Environment, Provincial Administrator, lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, and members of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) namely, Engr. Leoncio Jamora and Col. Melchishedech Encabo, and MRFC members David Castor and Engr. Maximino Sillo are also expected to attend the forum. (PR)
