Capitol to replace 300 Eucalyptus trees at Panaad Park

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will cut about 300 Eucalyptus trees at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson assured that the province will replace as many trees that are cut with endemic species.

“We’re not cutting without replacing the Eucalyptus farm. Eucalyptus is not a good tree because it saps water,” Lacson said.

He said in some other countries in fact like Africa they are getting rid of Eucalyptus trees.

The Eucalyptus farm has been grown since the construction of the Panaad Park.

Lacson said when the replacement of trees start it will have a landscaping for it to look good.

The province will contract somebody who will cut the trees for free and will get the Eucalyptus lumber in return.

They will also build a material recovery facility which will also serve for the future use of the province.

The cutting of Eucalyptus trees is also relative to the rehabilitation of the Panaad Park and Stadium for the hosting of the province of the 2021 Regional Meet and Palarong Pambansa.

The cutting of trees will also solve parking and traffic problem during events at the Panaad Park.

Lacson revealed that the Animal Hub which is now at the possession of the province will be developed as the Negros Occidental Football Association is interested in using the building during trainings of their athletes.
